The sap is often boiled in a “sugar house” which is also known as a “sugar shack” or “sugar shanty”.
About Maine Maple Sunday
The Maine Maple Producers Association welcomes you to join Maine’s Maple Syrup Producers, statewide, as they celebrate Maine Maple Sunday. Most sugarhouses offer free maple syrup samples and demonstrations on how pure Maine maple syrup is made. Many farms offer games, activities, treats, sugarbush tours, music, and so much more.
Maine Maple Sunday is always the fourth Sunday in March although some sugarhouses are offering events for both Saturday and Sunday. Please be sure to read the description of each sugarhouse to know what times they will be open and the activities they offer.
May you and your family enjoy your day.
If you would like have your sugar-house listed on the 2017 Maine Maple Sunday Map, please fill out this application. Please submit your application before January 31, 2017.
